B was really excited to come to the city and go to lunch, but he wouldn't tell M and I where we were going. As we pulled up to the Concourse Exhibition Center in SOMA, I immediately exclaimed, "We're going here, aren't we!" B knows my love for food so it was a really awesome surprise.
In a nutshell, though, the Fabulous Food Festival is not so fabulous. The samples consisted of a plethora of jams, spreads, oils and mustards. I have honestly never had so many pretzel sticks and bite-sized pieces of bread in my life. There was the sole cheese purveyor and few-and-far-between hot foods, evidenced by the huge crowds around those booths, but really, one can only eat so many little pieces of bread before it gets old. Shout out to Aidell's for the always delicious sausage samples, but the festival is a great example of "good in theory."
Simply put, 10 bucks, finding parking and fending off little old ladies with sharp elbows was not worth it. There are better samples to be had in an afternoon at Costco.
The Verdict: Not Worth It
