L let me pick the spot so I suggested Spork - a place we've both been wanting to try. I can't think of anything better than dressed-up comfort food and the fact that the space used to be a KFC was an added bonus.

L isn't the most adventurous eater (but she's improving!) so we cautiously ordered the Griddled Calamari with Brussel Sprouts to start. The calamari was served with crispy brussel sprouts, chili flakes, lemon, aioli. L had never had brussel sprouts before so I was thrilled that she loved them and that I got to witness the brussel sprout DV. I thoroughly enjoyed the dish even though I had to jump on the scary tentacle-y pieces - L stayed far away.

I'd heard great things about the In-side-Out Burger and it did not disappoint. The dish was just as it sounds - layers of high quality, local beef, Tillamook cheese and other burger dressings, served with a french fry "pancake". I had a bite of L's Steak Stroganoff which consisted of griddled american kobe steak, housemade gnocchi, button mushrooms, sour cream and aged balsamic. Really rich, but oh so good.

We had no choice but to top off our gluttonous evening with an equally decadent dessert. We shared Elvis Has Left The Building - a peanut butter cup served with vanilla ice cream, bananas and caramel sauce. Soooo yum - just wish it was bigger.

Sidenote: They almost forgot to give us rolls - don't let them! They are divine!

The Verdict: Worth It

So, suddenly having a babysitter for last Tuesday, I was looking for somewhere to take LW for dinner. I had heard of Spork, and then saw it on Cammie's blog. She recommended it highly, so it seemed like the place to go.

It was.

Christ on a pony this place is good. We had the calamari and brussels as well, because we love brussel sprouts. It was crazy scary good. We were about to cancel the entree and just order 3 more.

But then Her Steak Stroganoff and my Scallops and Artichoke Risotto came. I feel sorry for the other food at the other restaurants, because it now knows it is never going to quite measure up...

So I won app, She won entree, and we tied for dessert. I get special points because my beer was really good and she ordered prosecco, which is kind of cheating.

This is the kind of place that serves you amazing butterscotch pudding in an ashtray and you thank them. (Seriously.) Go here and eat. And then stay over in the stockroom or somewhere and eat again the next night.
