Bar Jules was so good I almost cried. J mentioned it and since she has stellar taste in food and it was right by my second stop for the night (congrats J &C!), I headed there with B and G.

Bar Jules is quaint and tiny - you'd almost miss it if you weren't looking for it. So we were in for a bit of a wait when we got there since they don't take reservations. A seriously non-painful wait because the staff there is so GD nice.

The menu changes daily at Bar Jules and since none of us were very hungry, we decided to share a couple of things. G was really into getting proscuitto so despite my reservations, we got it. The preparation was really interesting...never would have thought pomegranate seeds would taste good on cured meat but it was and in true form I probably ate the most of anyone.

We then had the scallops which were served on top of cauliflower in a butter sauce. Butter + perfectly seared scallops = amazing. Lastly, B (god bless her) insisted on the roasted chicken breast served with kale and butternut squash gratin...soooo frickin good, especially the gratin. It was literally a combination of all my favorite things combined into a gooey, savory deliciousness. The poultry was originally supposed to be quail but they ran out so chicken it was. Thank goodness because small bones are both a little creepy and too much work.

I would come back to Bar Jules any day everyday. Consider this stellar endorsement a New Year's gift. Happy 2009 everyone!
